A while ago there were problems behind the scenes, because Haifa had asked the producer of the film Kamel Abu Ali to replace the introduction of the film in order to add her picture and name because this marks the first film stars in, in Egypt. She believes that it is her right to have a proper introduction that goes with her fame, contrary to how she was ignored in the first introduction.

The director of the film Khaled Yousif refused her request and he believes that as a director he has the right to decide how his film should look like and an actor or actress no matter how famous they are should not influence his decision.

The film’s scenario and script is written by Naser Abed Al Rahman and directed by Khald Yousif. The new film starts Haifa Wahbe, Amro Saed, Ghada Abed Al Razaq and Amro Abed Al Jalil.

<itemdate>Sun, 04 Jan 2009 12:35:00 GMT</itemdate>

“Omar and Salma” after marriage

The director of the second part of the Egyptian movie “Omar And Salma” decided to include the daughters of the actor Ahmad Zaher in the new and second part of the movie. The two little girls will be the daughters of the stars of the film Egyptian superstar and actor Tamer Hosni and Egyptian young actress May Iz Al Deen.

The second part of the film is about a romantic and love story that is between two married people and they are “Omar and Salma”. The love story ended up with marriage, yet it is done in a comedy style. Throughout the film the couple goes through various struggles and problems which they try to overcome.

Ahli's Mohamed Barakat insisted the crowd troubles that marred his side's win over Ismaili were unjustifiable.

The mercurial midfielder scored the winner as Ahli edged past Ismaili 1-0 in an ill-tempered Egyptian Premier League clash on Saturday.

Fans from both sides disrupted the game by throwing dozens of fireworks and broken seats onto the pitch.

"I don't know why these troubles happened," Barakat told Ahli’s official website after the match.

"The fans' actions were unjustifiable especially that Ahli and Ismaili players have very good relationship with each others."

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old said that competing for the league's top scorer award does not interest him.

"I don't think about that. What really matters to me is that Ahli win."

Barakat took his tally to seven goals so far this season, just one behind league top scorer Mostafa Karim.

<itemdate>Sun, 04 Jan 2009 12:22:00 GMT</itemdate>

Test could offer lung cancer clue

Testing a lung cancer patient's blood could help doctors predict the likely success of chemotherapy treatment.

UK scientists identified a molecule made by a more aggressive form of the disease, the journal Clinical Cancer Research reported.

Patients with this in their blood were less likely to respond to drugs, they said.

Cancer Research UK said the discovery could help doctors choose the right kind of treatment for patients.

Lung cancer kills more than 30,000 people in the UK every year, and survival rates have not improved alongside those for breast or bowel cancer in recent years.

There is more than one type of lung cancer, but the variety under investigation by Liverpool-based researchers, small-cell lung cancer, which accounts for between 15% and 20% of cases, is one of the more difficult to treat.

Even small cell lung cancer comes in different forms, with a version called "neuroendocrine" being the least likely to be treated successfully.

The researchers found that a molecule called SCG3 mRNA was more likely to be found in the blood of people with neuroendocrine small cell cancer.

In theory, if larger studies back this up, it could mean that patients arriving at the clinic could be tested to give doctors an idea of the likely success of therapy - or perhaps to predict when a patient was relapsing before other signs emerged.

<itemdate>Sun, 04 Jan 2009 12:20:00 GMT</itemdate>

Israeli troops clash with Hamas

Israeli ground forces are battling Hamas fighters in the Gaza Strip, after Israel stepped up its operation to try to halt rocket attacks by militants.

Clashes have intensified in the north, with the territory cut in two and Gaza City surrounded. Both sides have reported casualties in the fighting.

The UN secretary general has called for an immediate halt to operations.

But an emergency Security Council meeting failed to agree a united approach to the Gaza conflict.

Diplomatic sources said it was the United States that blocked an agreement. US Ambassador Alejandro Wolff suggested that an official statement that criticised both Israel and Hamas would not have been helpful.

<itemdate>Sun, 04 Jan 2009 12:13:00 GMT</itemdate>

Sleep gives brain disease warning

Physically "acting out" dreams when asleep could be an early warning sign of dementia or Parkinson's disease.

Canadian researchers studied 93 people with "REM sleep behaviour disorder", which can involve punching or kicking out while dreaming.

The Neurology study found more than a quarter were diagnosed with a degenerative brain condition over the next five years.

UK experts said the research could help doctors predict the condition.

Normally, during "Rapid Eye Movement", or "REM" sleep, our muscles relax and do not move, but people with certain sleep disorders are able to lash out, or cry out.

It is a known symptom of some kinds of brain disease, including Parkinson's disease, and a rare form of dementia called Lewy body dementia.

The exact reason for the link is unclear, although some have suggested that subtle damage to a part of the brain which regulates sleep may be responsible.

However, in some cases, the problem happens long before the onset of the main symptoms of these diseases, and doctors at Montreal General Hospital wanted to see whether apparently otherwise healthy people with the problem were at higher risk.

Their study volunteers were all elderly - on average 65 years old - which already put them at higher risk of developing dementia or Parkinson's compared with a younger person.

However, each was followed on average for five years, and in that period, 26 of the 93 developed a degenerative brain disease.

In total, 14 were diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, seven with Lewy body dementia, four with Alzheimer's Disease, and another diagnosed with a disorder called multiple system atrophy, which involves both Parkinson's and dementia symptoms.

<itemdate>Sun, 28 Dec 2008 12:49:00 GMT</itemdate>

Israel renews air strikes on Gaza

Israeli jets have launched a second day of air attacks on the Gaza Strip, amid warnings that operations will continue until Hamas ends rocket fire from Gaza.

Palestinians now say at least 280 people have died, while Israel is said to be considering a ground assault and has authorised the call-up of reserves.

At the UN, the Security Council called for an end to all violence in Gaza, including rocket attacks from Gaza.

Israel says militants have fired 110 rockets into Israel since Saturday.

The country's cabinet has authorised the call-up of reserve soldiers, with unconfirmed reports saying as many as 6,500 could be summoned for duty.

The air strikes were launched on Saturday against Hamas targets in the densely-populated coastal territory, less than a week after the expiry of a six-month-long ceasefire deal with the militant group.

Israel hit targets in all Gaza's main towns, including Gaza City in the north and Khan Younis and Rafah in the south.

More than 210 targets were hit in the first 24 hours of what Israel says could be a lengthy military operation.

"Israel will continue until we have a new security environment in the south, when the population there will not longer live in terror and in fear of constant rocket barrages," said government spokesman Mark Regev.

The high numbers of casualties made Saturday the single deadliest day in the Gaza Strip since Israel's occupation of the territory in 1967, analysts said, although no independent confirmation is available of the numbers killed.

<itemdate>Sun, 28 Dec 2008 12:43:00 GMT</itemdate>

Israel renews air strikes on Gaza

Masri football director Ibrahim Hassan justified his violent behavior in the match against Algeria's JSM Bejaia on Friday as he refused to admit any wrongdoing.

The former Egypt international lost his temper during the 2-0 defeat at Algiers, where he insulted the referee, assaulted the fourth official and made an improper gesture towards the home crowd.

Video evidence condemned the 40-year-old, who replied saying that his behavior came in response to the hostile atmosphere at Stade de l'Unite Maghrebine.

"I am totally convinced with what I have done, I do not regret my acts, I will not apologize and I am insistent on my stance," Hassan told Mehwar TV show 90 Minutes.

"Every action has a reaction, and I had to react to the intimidations we faced in Algeria. We tried to tell the officials about what the home fans were doing, but no one listened.

"When I hit the fourth official, I was trying to defend myself because he held my finger firmly and was about to break it!

"The fans threw missiles on us, a player was seriously injured and we also had to treat a staff member, who was caught by fire."

Hassan will go under investigation, along with twin brother Hossam, by the Egyptian FA, who imposed an indefinite ban on the duo.

Hossam Hassan was also sent off for protesting during the North African Cup match.

Manchester United were crowned Club World Cup champions, thanks to a 1-0 victory over South American champions Liga de Quito on Sunday.

Wayne Rooney scored the only goal of the game 17 minutes from time to hand the European champions the trophy in Yokohama.

United managed to grab en expected win despite playing most of the second half with a man down, following the expulsion of Serbian defender Nemanja Vidic.
